U.S. Neutralizes Houthi Drone Threat in the Red Sea
The U.S. Central Command reported the successful interception of six Houthi drones over the Red Sea, underscoring heightened tensions in the region.
These offensive drones, identified near the Sanaa time zone, were deemed an imminent threat to U.S. naval vessels and coalition forces. Following this, the Houthi faction launched two ballistic missiles towards the Gulf of Aden, striking the UK-owned cargo ship Islander, causing minor damage and injuries, yet the ship continued its journey.
This incident follows a series of attacks in the Red Sea attributed to the Houthi group, retaliating against Israeli military actions in Gaza. The U.S. and UK have responded with airstrikes to curb Houthi capabilities, safeguarding maritime freedom and global trade. This escalation marks a concerning trend of maritime security threats in the region, with international efforts underway to maintain safe navigation and trade continuity.
