The Saudi National Meteorological Center announced the Hajj pilgrimage will see climatic changes from 2026. Pilgrims will experience eight years of spring Hajj followed by eight years of winter Hajj. The center is enhancing weather monitoring and reporting at Holy Sites to better serve pilgrims.
The Saudi National Meteorological Center (NMC) announced that the annual pilgrimage of Hajj will undergo climatic changes beginning in 2026.
According to spokesperson Hussein Al-Qahtani, Hajj will occur during the spring season for eight consecutive years, followed by eight years of winter seasons.
NMC, led by CEO Dr. Ayman Ghulam, is focusing on cloud seeding to improve weather conditions at the Holy Sites.
Dr. Ghulam inaugurated NMC’s Media and Awareness Production Center in Mina, aiming to assist pilgrims.
The center uses advanced meteorological technologies and coordinates with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to ensure smooth operations.
Pilgrims can expect extremely hot weather, with temperatures between 45 to 48 degrees Celsius, and occasional dust storms.
NMC has also upgraded its meteorological infrastructure at Holy Sites to enhance data accuracy and readiness.
This includes adding more automatic stations and using satellite images and mobile radars for real-time weather monitoring.
