Aramex Plans to Re-Enter Syrian Market Amidst Growing Competition in Gulf
Aramex, a logistics and delivery company, is planning to re-enter the Syrian market soon.
The company's managing director for the Gulf region, Samer Marei, said that the legal and compliance teams are currently working on it but did not specify a specific date.
The Syrian market was closed due to challenges related to the Syrian and Yemeni markets, but it is now returning to normal, allowing Aramex to obtain licenses again.
However, competition in the delivery sector in the Gulf, especially in relation to e-commerce, has become very strong with the entry of new players led by Chinese companies that have invested heavily in regional markets.
Despite the competition, Aramex is optimistic about its results for the current year and is focusing on making services better and cheaper to manage costs.
The company operates in 70 countries through its own companies or agents and is one of the market leaders in the Gulf region, with a 30% share in Saudi Arabia during the last Ramadan period.
