Arab Coalition, Houthis exchange humanitarian visits to detainees
Delegations from the Arab Coalition and the Houthis exchanged visits on Wednesday to detainees on either side as a goodwill initiative under confidence-building and truce extension efforts in Yemen.
The Official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Brigadier, General Turki Al-Malki, announced the first public exchange of visits.
Al-Malki said, “This was a strictly humanitarian visit that handles the detainee issue with a purely humanitarian approach, and was made possible as one of the gains of the truce and the efforts to extend it.”
He added: “It expands the humanitarian, economic and livelihood gains for the Yemeni people, kickstarting the political process for reaching comprehensive peace in Yemen.”
He affirmed that the detainee issue received the utmost care and attention of the Coalition Command, and that they would continue to exert all efforts for the safe return of all detainees on both sides.
