Al-Rajhi: Vision 2030 empowers us to serve people with disabilities

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Eng. Ahmad Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, inaugurated Sunday the 2nd edition of the International Conference on Twice Exceptionality, “Gifted Persons with Disabilities,” organized by the Aleradah Organization in partnership with the King Salman Center for Disability Research and the Quality of Life Program over three days.
The conference examines the relationship between disability, giftedness, and creativity under the slogan “My Disability is Exceptional” in the presence of the Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing, Majid Al-Hogail.

In his speech, Al-Rajhi explained that what is provided to persons with disabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and what we see today in initiatives, programs, and projects are regarded as an embodiment of the wise leadership’s interest in providing them with all services and equal opportunities for them, together with the rest of society, through (7) systems that guarantee their rights, and take care of their affairs through integration among state institutions.

He added that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 gave us opportunities for empowerment, integration, and partnership among society’s institutions and individuals to serve people with disabilities. According to the General Authority for Statistics data, there are about (1.4) million and four hundred thousand people with disabilities of all types.

Dr. Ammar Buqas in empowering talented people with disabilities in society pointed out that scientific efforts represent one of the main possibilities that contribute to providing solutions, policies, and initiatives and improving the quality of services for people with disabilities.

Furthermore, they offer new opportunities for talented people with disabilities to continue their efforts and participate in comprehensive national development. He praised the efforts of Aleradah Organization under the leadership of the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

For his part, the CEO of Aleradah Organization, Abdullah Al-Juraid, explained that the conference would provide best practices, research, and leading global experiences for developing talented people with disabilities and investing in the best technologies to enable them in practical life.

In turn, the head of the scientific committee of the conference, Dr. Abdullah Al-Jughaiman, announced the participation of (75) speakers from (10) countries with more than (50) scientific research in several specialized areas. He explained the main criteria for applying the scientific methodology in selecting and approving the conference research.

The opening ceremony included a live show for talented persons with disabilities, honoring several partners and talented people, and inaugurating the exhibition accompanying the conference, with the participation of many entities.
