Al-Rajhi hails national efforts towards ensuring protection and welfare of children

Minister of Human Resource and Social Development Eng. Ahmed Bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi noted the joint efforts made by the Ministry and all relevant governmental and private entities to promote the rights, protection and welfare of children, and to enable them to achieve their aspirations, develop their capabilities, and ensure a brighter future for the nation.
On the occasion of World Children's Day, Eng. Al-Rajhi highlighted that the Kingdom's efforts in the field of child protection are based on intrinsic principles, values and legislation that preserve their rights.

He also noted the significance of the existing national alignment in terms of education, healthcare and justice to protect and develop children by means of the programs and initiatives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Minister Al-Rajhi highlighted some of the Kingdom’s most prominent efforts in this respect, which include:

1) the international cooperation to implement the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was ratified by Saudi Arabia in 1995;

2) the approval of the Child Protection System from all forms of abuse and negligence that children might be exposed to,

3) the implementation of the National Policy to Prevent Child Labor, and

4) criminalizing child harassment and exposing children to inappropriate content; stressing the implementation of the strategy to embrace orphans and people with special needs, and providing the required care and assistance for children with disabilities in partnership with community and civil society.

Al-Rajhi referred to the development of cooperation means between all stakeholders to confront domestic violence and its impact on children, noting the availability of the hotline to report all forms of domestic violence (1919), as well as the Child Support line provided by the Family Safety Program (116111).
