Al-Jalajel, Tedros discuss future Saudi role within WHO

Minister of Health Fahd Al-Jalajel met here Tuesday with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on the sidelines of the meetings of the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, held in Cairo.
During the meeting, they discussed the future roles of Saudi Arabia within the work of the WHO, and the support that can be provided to activate artificial intelligence initiatives in promoting public health.

Al-Jalajel also met, on the sidelines of the meetings of the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, with Egypt’s Minister of Health Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues of common interest as well as ways to enhance health cooperation between the two countries.

Also Al-Jalajel, in the presence of CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) Dr. Hisham Al-Jadhey, inaugurated the Advanced Medical Technologies Co. Factory, during the minister’s visit to the pavilion of Al-Dawaa Medical Services Company at the World Health Forum here.

The factory aims at increasing the share of the local content in the health sector to realize one of the initiatives of the Saudi Vision 2030, transferring knowledge and latest global development in cooperation with international companies, and achieving products’ diversity in a way that accords with government programs.

Al-Dawaa Medical Services Company and Chinese BGI Group also signed several agreements in logistical services fields to develop and manufacture medical devices and provide healthcare services.

Al-Dawaa Medical Services Company also reviewed the services of the First Company for Transfer of Healthcare, which is a subsidiary whose strategic vision focuses on being one of the pillars of transformation in healthcare in Saudi Arabia.

This they hope to achieve through technology and innovation to contribute to realizing the targets of the health sector and Saudi Vision 2030, where the company also seeks to keep pace with the health transformation at the local and international levels.
