5 levels of fines ranging from SR20 to SR6000 for violations

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing (MOMRA) unveiled the table of building compliance violations seeking viewpoints and opinions from the public before implementing the regulations.
The table contained five levels of fines for various violations, ranging from SR20 to SR6,000, and that are in accordance with the classification of mayoralties and municipalities.

The table included the consequential penalty for the violations. A minimum fine of SR100 and a maximum of SR500 will be imposed in the event that a satellite dish was installed on the sides of buildings or balconies. Fines ranging between SR200 and SR1,000 will be slapped in the event of displaying hangers or materials that do not fit the shape and nature of the building in the balcony. The same fine will be imposed in the event of any ugly graffiti on the walls of commercial buildings, according to the table of violations.

A minimum fine of SR100 and a maximum of SR500 will be imposed if there is no roof jack for the building or the jack is at a height that violates the building regulations. Fines ranging between SR200 and SR1000 will be slapped on those who violate the regulations with regard to the window opening and design requirements for openings in commercial buildings.

The fines for violations with regard to failure in constructing a separate staircase for the mezzanine floor of commercial buildings range from SR1000 to SR5000. Those, who fail to implement the regulations with regard to meeting requirements for people with disabilities in terms of parking and passages as stipulated in the building permit or approved plans for commercial buildings, will be slapped with fines ranging from SR500 to SR2500.

The table included a minimum fine of SR20 and a maximum of SR100 if no sidewalks were constructed toward the main street from the building in accordance with the governing regulations and instructions.

A minimum fine of SR1200 and a maximum of SR6000 will be imposed on violations with regard to erecting iron columns or iron Shinko screens on the roof walls of commercial buildings. The value of fines for cracks or damage to the facades of buildings or visible rust on the metal materials on the facades ranges between SR100 and SR500.

The table included fines from SR200 to SR1,000 for violations related to electrical-sanitary-mechanical extension works visible in the facade of the commercial building while the fines for violations pertaining to separate air conditioning units on the facades of the commercial building overlooking the street ranged from SR50 to SR250.
