Sinopec Signs $1.1 Billion Deal with Saudi Aramco to Build Natural Gas Pipelines and Facilities
Sinopec Oilfield Service Co., a Chinese firm, announced on Thursday that it signed a $1.1 billion deal with Saudi Aramco to construct natural gas pipelines in Saudi Arabia.
The contract involves building trunk lines totaling 2,630 km and branch lines of 1,340 km as part of Aramco's plan to expand gas distribution.
Sinopec is expected to complete construction by May 2027.
Earlier this year, Aramco awarded contracts worth over $3.3 billion to Sinopec and Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas for a gas facility in Saudi Arabia, with Sinopec owning 65 percent and Tecnicas Reunidas having a 35 percent share.
Aramco announced contracts for the development of the Riyas natural gas liquids facility at the Jafurah unconventional gas production project in Saudi Arabia.
The contracts include engineering, procurement, and construction of liquefied natural gas distillation facilities, as well as storage and export facilities.
The Jafurah Gas Field, with an estimated 200 trillion standard cubic feet of natural gas, is the largest such discovery in the Middle East, making this project one of Aramco's most ambitious.
