Morocco Declares National Holiday to Mark UN Resolution on Western Sahara
Rabat observes the adoption of a UN Security Council resolution supporting Morocco's autonomy plan for Western Sahara.
Morocco's royal palace has declared October 31 as a national holiday starting next year.
This announcement follows the recent adoption by the UN Security Council of a resolution endorsing Morocco’s autonomy plan for Western Sahara.
The resolution, adopted last Friday, emphasizes that genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty could be considered a practical solution to resolve the longstanding conflict with the Algeria-backed Polisario Front, which advocates for an independent state in the territory.
