KSrelief Signs Agreement to Enhance Wildfire Response Capabilities in Syria’s Latakia
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center collaborates with Syrian authorities to bolster firefighting operations.
In a strategic move to support the ongoing efforts against forest fires, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has entered into an agreement aimed at providing critical resources for firefighting in Kassab, a town within Latakia governorate in Syria.
This initiative reflects a growing partnership between KSrelief and Syrian governmental bodies, with the objective of strengthening the country’s emergency response capabilities.
The agreement was formalized on Tuesday, with the attendance of Syria's Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Wednesday.
The collaboration is expected to improve the effectiveness and speed of wildfire responses in Latakia through technical and logistical support directed towards local firefighting teams.
Given the rising summer temperatures, this intervention is viewed as timely to mitigate the risk of extensive forest fires in the area.
According to Syria’s Deputy Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Ahmed Qazziz, the agreement holds strategic significance, particularly during the high-risk summer months.
It emphasizes enhancing civil defense readiness, training personnel, and equipping field teams—a crucial triad for safeguarding communities from natural disasters.
This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's broader humanitarian mission to assist disaster-affected populations and extend support to countries in need.
