Green Riyadh: Building Three Major Eco-Parks and Transforming the City into a Sustainable and Liveable Urban Space

Green Riyadh: Building Three Major Eco-Parks and Transforming the City into a Sustainable and Liveable Urban Space

The Green Riyadh project has initiated the construction of three major parks in Riyadh, totaling over 550,000 square meters in the neighborhoods of Al-Munsiyah, Rimal, and Al-Qadisiyah.
These parks aim to enhance the livability of Riyadh, offer recreational spaces, and increase per capita green spaces by 16 times.

The parks will be linked to Wadi Al-Sulay, a natural waterway, and a sports track through wooded pedestrian paths.

The project's goal is to make Riyadh one of the most sustainable cities in the world.

The text describes the plans for new parks in Riyadh, which will cover 65% of the total area with green spaces.

Over 585,000 trees and shrubs will be planted, and there will be walking, running, and bicycle paths, as well as 22 play areas for children.

The parks will also feature green terraces, squares, open theaters, sports facilities, and bodies of water.

Green Riyadh is also working on implementing trees and gardens in various locations throughout the city, including residential neighborhoods, mosques, schools, and government buildings.

The initiative includes the planting of trees in valleys, tributaries, main roads, and squares.

The overall goal is to enhance environmental awareness and create innovative educational experiences for children.

The "Green Riyadh" project, launched by Saudi Arabia's King Salman at the initiative of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to enhance the city's greenery.

It includes establishing irrigation water networks with a total length of 1,350 km and producing three million trees, shrubs, and soil covers annually in Riyadh's green nurseries.

The project's objectives are to increase vegetation cover to 9 percent of the city's area, raise per capita green space from 1.7 square meters to 28 square meters, and contribute to lowering temperatures and improving air quality by reducing pollution and dust.

Green Riyadh is part of the larger "Green Saudi Initiative" and "Vision 2023," which aims to cultivate 10 billion trees within Saudi Arabia.

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) is executing a program called "Green Riyadh" to significantly enhance the urban and suburban environments in Riyadh.

The goal is to make Riyadh one of the most enjoyable cities to live in globally.

This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and the "Quality of Life" program, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The projects aim to create more sustainable cities and communities, promote urban measures against global warming, and address common challenges in metropolises, such as improving quality of life, the environment, sports and leisure, health and wellbeing, safety, participation, and economic value creation.

The "greening initiative" in Riyadh aims to decrease CO2 emissions and temperatures in the city.

It also promotes a healthier lifestyle for its citizens, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals.
