Fog Walk Promenade in Saudi Arabia's Asir Region Becomes Summer Destination
The 7km-long promenade offers panoramic views and mild climate amid soaring temperatures elsewhere.
Riyadh: The Fog Walk promenade, situated at an elevation of more than 2,400 meters above sea level in the southern Asir region of Saudi Arabia, has emerged as a prominent attraction for individuals seeking respite from the summer heat.
Spanning a distance of 7 kilometers and located within Al-Namas governorate, it boasts breathtaking views of the Tihama plains coastal area.
The promenade is characterized by its wide pathways, seating areas, and rest spots, complemented by food trucks, cafes, and stalls offering local handicrafts and traditional cuisine.
The Asir region, known for its typically foggy and mild summer climate with temperatures rarely exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, presents a stark contrast to other parts of the country experiencing higher temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
The area's natural beauty is further enhanced by towering mountains and dense forests, providing visitors with an enriching experience.
In addition to its natural allure, the promenade has recently undergone improvements such as night lighting, expanded green spaces, and enhanced support services aimed at promoting the tourism sector.
These enhancements are part of broader plans by local authorities and the Asir Development Authority, which envisions attracting 8 million tourists by 2030.
A significant investment of SR1.3 billion (approximately $346.5 billion) is being allocated to develop an entertainment complex set for completion in 2025.
This complex will feature a variety of attractions including arcade games, theme park rides, cinema, indoor golf course, bowling facilities, and go-kart tracks.
As part of the Vision 2030 initiative, additional investments of SR6 billion are being made into the tourism industry within the region, with ambitions to increase this figure to SR9 billion.
