Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 Initiatives Reach 87% Completion

A historical milestone has been reached in non-oil activities, and plans are progressing towards targets.
Over 200 global companies chose Riyadh as their regional headquarters by the end of 2023.

In its eighth year, Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 strides with determination towards a bright and prosperous future, charting a new path where the nation and its citizens grow, and contributing to providing success opportunities for future generations. Launched from three pillars highlighting its strength; firstly, as the heart of the Arab and Islamic worlds, granting it a deeply rooted cultural status, secondly, its immense investment capabilities aiming at economic development and diversification of income sources, relying on the energies of its sons and daughters, representing more than half of the Saudi population. Additionally, the Kingdom's strategic geographic location as a hub connecting three continents and some of the world’s most important maritime routes enhances its global standing.

Since Vision 2030 was initiated on April 25, 2016, under the direction of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God preserve them – the Kingdom has witnessed an unprecedented historical transformation and significant growth supporting the Vision’s goal to build a prosperous future through economic growth and improving quality of life.

Promising Future

The Vision represents a journey towards a future filled with opportunities for the Kingdom's ambitious and creative youth. It's the most significant national plan for transformation, turning dreams and hopes into a tangible reality filled with accomplishments and reaching targets.

Key performance indicators for 2023, amounting to 243, revealed that 81% achieved their third-level targets, with 105 indicators surpassing their future targets for 2024/2025.

The Kingdom saw a historic increase in the number of Umrah pilgrims from abroad, reaching 13.56 million, exceeding the 2023 target of 10 million, against a baseline of 6.2 million. Additionally, the number of Saudi heritage sites listed by UNESCO rose to seven, surpassing the year's target of six.

Expo 2030 and Tourism Achievements

In the tourism sector, the Kingdom welcomed 106 million visitors, including 27.4 million international tourists, marking the second-highest growth rate of international tourists.

Housing and Quality of Life Improvements

In line with Vision 2030's targets for enhancing quality of life, significant achievements have been made in healthcare access, housing, and promoting physical activity among adults. The real estate sector witnessed the delivery of homes to 66,000 Saudi families and the launch of over 24,000 housing units by the end of August.

Economic Growth and Increased Non-Oil Sector Performance

The Kingdom's global ranking in terms of GDP saw a significant rise, with the non-oil GDP reaching remarkable figures, contributing to achieving diversification targets.

A Leap in Military Industries and Public Investment Fund Growth

The military industry localization reached 10.4%, and the total assets managed by the Public Investment Fund soared, with the establishment of 93 companies in 2023, providing 644,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Environmental Initiatives and Vision 2030 Progress

The Kingdom's progressive environmental initiatives, including the planting of over 49 million trees and rewilding efforts, highlight its dedication towards combating climate change and promoting sustainability.
