Ejar Platform: E-Payment for Rent Now Limited to Residential Contracts
The Ejar platform currently allows e-payment of rent for residential contracts only. Ejar specifies approved digital payment methods, such as Mada or SADAD, using biller number 153 and does not endorse bank transfers.
Implementation of e-payment is in line with the Council of Ministers' decision to enhance transparency and reduce fraud in real estate transactions.
Landlords will receive payments directly in their bank accounts for both active and expired residential contracts, and tenants can pay in installments without needing a physical receipt, as Ejar issues automatic digital ones.
Payments in cash or by check are still permissible for existing contracts, but must be accompanied by an electronic receipt noting details of the payment. Legal action for non-payment can be initiated by landlords through the Ministry of Justice's Najiz platform.
Failure to use Ejar's digital payment system can compromise rental parties' rights and increase fraud risks. The system ensures tenant payments are processed within five business days and contributes to preserving tenant rights from property inspection to maintenance.
Ejar facilitates rental procedures, ensuring safety and security for both landlords and tenants throughout the leasing process.
