Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump is scheduled to host Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa at the White House on November 10, according to a statement released by the American leader's press secretary, Karoline Leavitt.

This meeting marks a significant diplomatic development in the ongoing efforts to normalize relations between the United States and Syria, which have been strained due to the prolonged conflict within the country.

Since seizing power from Bashar Assad in December 2019, Al-Sharaa has embarked on several foreign trips aimed at rebuilding Syria’s international relationships.

The transitional government under Al-Sharaa is seeking to re-establish diplomatic ties with global powers that had previously isolated Damascus during Assad's rule.

Trump has demonstrated a willingness to engage constructively with the Syrian leadership.

In June, he lifted most of the US sanctions imposed on Syria, and Trump previously met with Al-Sharaa in Saudi Arabia in May 2020 as part of his Middle Eastern tour.

During the press briefing, Leavitt emphasized that these actions were taken to provide an opportunity for peace in Syria.

Leavitt highlighted the administration's positive assessment of the progress made by Al-Sharaa’s government, citing the lifting of sanctions as a crucial step towards fostering stability and constructive dialogue within the region.
