Iran Hosts Trilateral Talks with Saudi Arabia and China in Riyadh, Reinforcing Beijing-Brokered Rapprochement
Tehran, Riyadh and Beijing pledge deeper cooperation under renewed Saudi–Iran détente amid region-wide tensions
Iran, Saudi Arabia and China convened a high-level trilateral meeting in Riyadh as part of ongoing efforts to stabilise ties under the 2023 Beijing Agreement.
The gathering — attended by senior foreign ministry figures from all three capitals — reaffirmed a joint commitment to implementing the agreement in full and deepening cooperation across political, economic and diplomatic fields.
The meeting was chaired by Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al‑Khuraiji, joined by China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Deng Li and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi.
Together they emphasised respect for international law, sovereignty and mutual security, and described the trilateral framework as a cornerstone for regional stability.
Officials welcomed China’s continued diplomatic support and signalled intent to expand practical cooperation, including through enhanced consular services, economic engagement, potential tax-treaty arrangements, media collaboration and regular high-level exchanges.
They pointed to recent success facilitating thousands of Iranian pilgrims’ access to Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia as evidence of improved bilateral cooperation.
The meeting also addressed pressing regional crises.
The three nations issued a unified call for an immediate end to military operations affecting Palestine and Lebanon and demanded unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid — underscoring a shared concern over escalating violence.
They reiterated support for a comprehensive political resolution to the conflict in Yemen under United Nations auspices.
Analysts view the meeting as a sign that the Saudi–Iranian reconciliation — mediated by China — is moving from symbolic diplomatic thaw toward structured cooperation.
As regional tensions mount, the success of this trilateral engagement may prove pivotal in reshaping Middle East geopolitics and reducing the influence of external powers.
