AlUla Dates Auction Records Strong Gains with SR 13 Million Sales
Over 2,000 tonnes of dates sold and more than SR 13 million in revenue mark a major step for the AlUla region’s agricultural push
Sales at this year’s auction of the AlUla Dates Festival surged with over two thousand tonnes sold and revenues surpassing SR 13 million (roughly $3.4 million).
According to the Royal Commission for AlUla, the result represents a 48 per cent increase on last season.
More than 1,600 farmers participated alongside strong interest from traders and investors, reflecting growing confidence in the region’s produce and broader marketing ecosystem.
The auction supports the region’s role in national agricultural development and export ambition under Saudi Vision 2030.
AlUla spans some 15,000 hectares of palm farms with over 4.1 million palm trees yielding around 170,000 tonnes annually.
The harvest season runs from 15 August to 30 October and the Barni variety accounts for approximately 80 per cent of output.
The dates auction, which is part of the festival running until 15 November, provides farmers with direct access to buyers and markets, and complements efforts to boost international competitiveness.
Officials said proceeds will support programmes to enhance productivity, introduce date-based value chains and further expand export readiness.
The results underline AlUla’s status as a leading date-producing region and its evolving role as an agricultural hub in Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification agenda.
